"Create your Home and Garden Dream!"
Your home and garden can be a beautiful environment totally unique to you. That personal rug or collage of photographs tells a story of your life, your experiences and your hopes and dreams.
Get a vision of your ideal home and hold it! It may be you already live in your perfect home but it could do with a face-lift. Get the finished picture in your mind and go for the dream...
From the start:
Finding your perfect house could truly be like chasing the dream at the end of the nightmare. The best way to approach your next house search is with an open mind!
Accept there is a distinct possibility the house you have perfected in your mind will not actually be for sale in your chosen location. Some work may be needed to get the house up to your spec.
Be prepared to compromise but set yourself some solid criteria. You may need:
a minimum of 3 bedrooms
or an office space
an area for a conservatory
Don't lose sight of your personal needs.
Agents or Otherwise?
Where do you start?
Have a look at local business. High street estate agents who have been there for years and seem to be doing well. Have they got offices near your new intended location?
Also, grill friends and colleagues who've recently moved house for their stories of agents. Keep a note of those who get highly recommended.
Look on the internet for official regional websites and check their listings of estate and property agents. Type your region and country into google search and you should get the official sites on the first results page.
Otherwise, you could do it privately. Be sure to have a solicitor check over the contracts before you sign anything though. Private houses for sale can be found in all sorts of places - local papers, shop windows etc;

DIY:
There are likely to be a hundred and one DIY jobs you'll need to do when you move into your new home. There'll be shelves to put up, beds to construct, washing machines to plumb in, the list can go and on. Take on the jobs you can do and sub-let the rest. If your budget's too tight, prioritize and slowly do the jobs yourself - one at a time is best!
Amazon have got a range of home and garden DIY books to leave open on the coffee table!
Home and Garden - Furniture and Furnishings:
There seems to be no end of advertisements for three piece suites and dining tables, and happily there are some good designs on the market at fairly reasonable prices.
If you're starting from scratch do some browsing first. Take time out to visit the bigger stores with displays of furniture
- tables, chairs, sofas, beds - all the big stuff. Get a feel for the design and price ranges. Could you live with that table even if it is the cheapest of the range?
Look at the large home and garden catalogues and check out their designs. This practice can often help decide a colour scheme you may have been unsure about, or a certain ambiance you were looking for.
Home and Garden - Garden Centres and Suppliers:
Garden Centres are great places for all the regular everyday gardening stuff and sometimes they have ranges of more exotic
products for sale. These are often seasonal and it's worth popping in every now and then to see what's on offer.
Local markets often have a plant stall or two. Make sure the plants look reasonably healthy before you buy.
Or browse the extensive garden suppliers on the internet. The range of products available is amazing! From slug pellets to
designer desktop watering cans, you'll definately find what you're looking for!
