"Healthy Eating - Simply the Best!"

We have healthy eating information shoved in our faces from all angles: diet companies, book publishers, television and radio, and of course the internet.

Along with all the 'invites to viagra' emails in our inboxes there are often 'lose weight fast' guarantees and various other ways of getting us to part with money for a 'better body'

If you are less than happy with your body shape or weight, your garden can and will sort it out for you, given half a chance!

We all know by now we should be eating at least five portions of fruit/vegetables every day to keep our internal organs working well. But sometimes the fruit we bought at the supermarket that's been resting in the fruit bowl for a few days doesn't always appeal to the appetite, and the bar of chocolate winking at you through the fridge door is infinitely more appealing!

Solution? Yep there is one! Your garden....

Okay you will need a little willpower to avoid eating the rubbish 'non-foods' - but when you know you have fresh fruit and vegetables available to pick and eat anytime you want them, the actual act of buying these 'non-foods' seems a little pointless somehow!

If you want to lose weight, get a better body shape, or simply feel fitter and healthier, it all starts with what fuel you put into that incredible body of yours.

Choose the best fuel, the premium quality. You'd choose nothing less for your car so why not treat your body with the same importance?

Healthy Eating - let's get started:

Plan your garden... decide what fruit and vegetables you and your family like to eat. The question of what is better for you doesn't need to be addressed here. All fruit and veg have vitamins and minerals, and will nourish your body.

Instead of having to think about what is or isn't good for you, and instead of trying to budget to include organic veg in your weekly shopping jaunts, just throw caution to the wind, and think about what YOU would like to eat from your garden.

There are hundreds of different varieties of fruit and veg you could grow successfully, whether you have green fingers or not. It's simply a matter of following instructions and doing a little exercise, and you'll be providing you and your family with nourishing meals in no time!

Browse through gardening catalogues to get an idea of the wonderful food you could be growing, or check out some online seed producers. The pictures are so tempting, they almost make your mouth water!

Thompson and Morgan are online worldwide suppliers of seeds and other products and they have some great pictures to drool over!

Healthy Eating - The plan!

Once you've decided what you want to grow, make a plan... some veggies grow well in some regions and not so good in others.

Chat with local gardeners and see what they grow. Copy their success.

Vegetables can be picked and eaten throughout the year and you can easily grow winter veg where your early summer lettuces were growing. Make that plan!

Through my own experience I know that in a moderate climate and with a little planning and organization, you can provide fresh organic vegetables for your family's healthy eating programme every single day of the year.

You will never be able to buy fruit or veg fresher than the produce you have in your garden. From the garden, to the table to your body in minutes, sometimes seconds! Stroll around your veggie plot in the morning and pick a few 'mange tout' for breakfast. Eat a couple of strawberries and pick a few fresh lettuce leaves. Now do you really want to eat an over-priced, processed cereal or sliced bread after giving your body a fresh and totally organic start to the day?

Healthy eating can be as easy as pie, or chocolate or whatever :-) - so avoid the pie, chocolate and whatever and get out there in your garden and grow the ideal food for your beautiful body!
